The Ideal Chocolate Milk Diet

The Ideal Chocolate Milk Diet™ Works for Children

Parents need to be aware that there might be medical causes for a child to be overweight or obese. Separately, there are some studies of approaches to weight reduction for overweight/obese children, as well as studies seeking to identify the causes of overweight and obesity. We believe the clinical research has not yet produced a consensus approach that is reasonably consistently effective. Moreover, some of the plans that have been proposed for obese children require significant amounts of medical supervision and expense.

At same time, the number of obese children is substantial and rising. The CDC estimates that 19.6% of 6-11 year olds are obese.2

For these reasons, we believe an approach that has been clinically-proven among adults should be considered and adapted for trial among children. Because The Ideal Chocolate Milk Diet™ -- adapted for children -- simply adds a moderate amount of protein to the child’s diet, we believe any risk is low. At the same time, because ICMD tastes like chocolate milk – something children like, even want – they will be happy to drink it.

Remember, ICMD is not simply Chocolate Milk.  You will note that we say “Chocolate Milk Reinvented – with 28 grams of protein”.  Look at the difference between ordinary chocolate milk, and The Ideal Chocolate Milk™  (“ICMD”:

Ordinary Chocolate Milk[1]

(mixed in 8 Ounces Skim Milk)

16.5

Carbohydrate (g)

Protein (g)

As you can see, ICMD has almost 4 times as much protein as chocolate milk, when you compare 8 ounces of each.  At the same time, it has 35% less sugars and carbohydrates.  If you are trying to increase protein, and decrease sugars, the proportion of protein to sugar in ICMD is almost 6 times as good as in ordinary chocolate milk.

As you can see in the numbers, ICMD is a great opportunity to crowd out some of the bad choices with a good one.

Maximum Recommended Consumption

While growing children need protein, it is important to manage your child’s maximum consumption of ICMD.  Because it is so high in protein, it can exceed both their needs, as well as recommended protein consumption per day.  Because ICMD tastes like chocolate milk, some children might overconsume if left unsupervised.  For that reason we provide a recommended maximum usage of ICMD by children:

How to Start the ICMD with Your Child

To follow a successful weight loss effort on the ICMD, we recommend the following steps:

  1. Talk with your doctor about a plan for your child, and discuss how much ICMD to include daily.
  2. Insure that your child has a good breakfast. ICMD is one good breakfast choice for children.
  3. Help your child understand the difference between good snack choices and poor snack choices. ICMD is a good snack choice that also tastes good.
